The Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT is a wonderful place to visit! Spend the day and see more than 300 animals representing primarily North and South American species. The Zoo plans fun and educational special events and programs all year.
The Bronx Zoo, Bronx, NY has a new Dinosaur exhibit that will thrill the little ones. Life size dinos can be seen on your guided tour through prehistoric times. With 4,000 modern day animals to see as well, the kids are sure to find their favorite!
The Maritime Aquarium, Norwalk CT, is different from most aquariums in that they focus solely on one body of water: Long Island Sound. Besides the aquatic animals, you can also catch an IMAX movie while you’re there.
Mystic Seaport, in Mystic, CT, recreates an entire 19th-century sea-faring village. It consists of more than 60 original historic buildings, all meticulously restored. Nearby Mystic Aquarium is one of the nation’s leading aquariums. Special exhibits include a ray and shark touch pool, a penguin exhibit, and a jelly gallery.
With over 180 animals, The Trevor Zoo in Millbrook is the only zoo in this country that is located at a high school. The zoo was established in 1936 at Millbrook School, a coeducational independent high school in Millbrook, New York. Its founder, Frank Trevor, was Millbrook School’s first biology teacher and a man with a passion for sharing his love of wildlife with all people, especially children.
